Samanta Liza Announces New Melodic- Afrohouse and Downtempo EP

October 19, 2021 - Samanta Liza announces her first collaboration EP Surroundings with artists Gaspa and Aezon. They have been performing and drawing fans to New York venues during 2021. This is the start of an exciting journey ahead.

Along with the EP announcement, a release event will be held in New York (venue to be announced). Samanta Liza wrote, recorded, and produced the records in her studio in Brooklyn, together with guitarist Gaspa, percussionist Aezon, and featuring percussionist Shafreaq on ‘Myself’. It is a true collaboration both in songwriting and artistry.

Samanta Liza describes the journey of creation: "Each song reflects a particular moment in time. There's a bit of each one of us in the songs, Gaspa's sassy electric guitar, Aezon's quirky rhythmic sounds. It was truly such a joy bringing it all together during the production process.” Surroundings is composed of 5 tracks - including a couple of Radio Edits - the songs cover a wide range of moods, from sitting alone with your thoughts to getting lost in fun drumming games. Each song varies in genre, yet are all rooted in the joy that is collaboration and embracing your surroundings.

The track Myself is a commentary on how no one seems to be comfortable - in your shell [your own skin] - being alone. Samanta Liza's soulful voice hits the tones right to the point of chills; keeping your attention are the playful smoothing rhythms and deep sighs. The guitar plays along in some very dreamy and nostalgic breaks. Butterfly brings you from anxiety to the clear and obvious. The music softly plays around the weak voice and comforts to help build strength in decision through a crescendo of electronic, guitar, rhythm and power.

The third song, Move brings you right down into the heart of the beat; you do feel it! You have to move. This track is all about pure release and letting yourself go. Samanta Liza's voice leads her team, where Gaspa's guitar culminates in a fingerpicked solo reminiscent of Mark Knopfler towards the end. The bass is raw, and driving bass lines interplay between syncopation and slides. The percussion keeps you feeling it. Move, move, move!

Jonathan Sherman, CEO and Founder of the label Return Records says, "From the first time that Return Records was introduced to Samanta, we knew she was going to be one of those special artists with the ability to bridge genres and musical styles, helping to push the boundaries of underground music. We are so thrilled she has decided to sign with us and can't wait for what's to come of our journey together!"

Susanne Shi, Samanta Liza’s manager, believes this will be the breakthrough for the artist. She said, “The EP has elements of power and soft soul at the same time, you find new interesting beats and tunes even after listening to the tracks many times. Listeners of all regions and ages will find a favourite in here”!
